St. Louis, MO - The Prairie Fire fell behind in the first half and lost in non-conference play 4-1 Tuesday afternoon at Webster University.
The Gorlocks (5-5-1) took a 1-0 lead 4:47 into the match on a goal by Clint Carder. Webster extended the advantage to 2-0 at the 10:23 mark of the match when Bryan Enger scored, and led 3-0 by intermission on a goal by Jurgen Rama 45 seconds prior to the break.
Sophomore Maxwell Gatyas (Plymouth, WI, Plymouth High School) scored his fourth goal of the season at 67:17 to pull the Prairie Fire (1-8) within 3-1. Pat McCaffery found the back of the net 69:55 into the match for the final goal of the contest.
Senior Luca Rajola-Pescarini (Rockford, IL, Keith Country Day School) had seven saves in his first start in goal for Knox.
Webster outshot the Prairie Fire 23-11 overall and 11-7 on goal.
The Prairie Fire resumes play on October 8 at Jorge Prats Field against Midwest Conference foe Ripon College at 1:00 p.m. Knox is 0-2 in league matches while the Red Hawks' overall record is 3-5-3 and 1-1-1 in the MWC.
