Mount Vernon, IA - The Prairie Fire fell behind in the first half against Cornell College and suffered a 107-67 season-opening loss in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

Knox (0-1) trailed 52-33 at halftime after shooting a frigid 20 percent, including 6-of-32 (19 percent) from 3-point range.  The Rams (1-0) shot 58 percent in the first half and 61 percent overall. 

The Prairie Fire connected on 22-of-93 shots (24 percent) in the game and 9-of-52 (17 percent) from long distance.  Knox also made just 14-of-28 from the free throw line in the contest and was outrebounded 65-47.

Senior Abby Owens (Grinnell, IA, Grinnell) led the Fire with 13 points.  Fellow senior Krystyna Williams (Evanston, IL, Evanston Township) also reached double figures with 12 points.

Knox resumes play Thursday night with a non-conference game at Eureka College.  The tip-off is at 7:00.
