Culver Stockton Hands Men's Soccer Second Straight Loss

Canton, MO - Culver-Stockton College scored a pair of goals early in the match and went on to beat the Prairie Fire 6-1 in a non-conference match on September 10 at Ayers Field.

Knox gave up goals 1:26 into the match and nearly 10 minutes later at 12:12 for a 2-0 deficit. 

The Wildcats (1-3), who earned the first win of the season in the match, added two more goals -- at 22:07 and 30:21 -- to take a commanding 4-0 lead at the intermission.

C-SC didn't have a big edge over Knox (1-3) in total shots attempted (13-11) or shots on goal (12-9) in the match.  Five Wildcat players scored their team's six goals.  Patrick Benzinger scored both of Culver-Stockton's second-half goals, which got past sophomore Prairie Fire goalieFranz Huebner (Heredia, Costa Rica, Lincoln School) at 58:42 and 63:55.

Knox broke up the Wildcats' shut out bid when junior Donald Tchopya (San Francisco, CA, Galileo Academy of Science and Technology) scored his second goal of the season 77:22 into the match on an assist by sophomore Maxwell Gatyas (Plymouth, WI, Plymouth High School).  Gatyas is tied for the team lead with two assists.

Huebner had six saves in goal.  The teams combined for 31 fouls in the aggressive match.

The Prairie Fire returns to Jorge Prats Field, where the team is 1-0 this season, to take on Rockford College (2-2) in a non-conference match Sunday, September 11 at 4:00.
