Galesburg, IL - The Prairie Fire played a strong first half but couldn't hold off Augustana College in the second half of the match in a 6-0 loss Thursday at Jorge Prats Field.
The Vikings moved into the #9 slot in the NCAA Division III Central Regional rankings after shutting out their last three opponents, including #16 nationally ranked University of Dubuque 1-0 on September 18.
Knox (1-5) trailed 1-0 at the intermission on a goal by Augustana's Vincent Dal Pozzo 20:24 into the match.
The Vikings (6-2), who have given up just three goals all season, scored their remaining five goals during a 20:00 span in the second half. Dal Pozzo added his second score of the match at the 66:34 mark after goals by Nathan Kyes (59:00) and Sean Fidlow (65:04).
Fidlow scored the last goal of the match, his second, at 79:30. Alberto Ramirez also had a goal at the 69:32 mark of the match.
The Vikings outshot the Prairie Fire 13-3 overall and 8-2 on goal.
