Green Knights Run Past Women's Basketball Team

DePere, WI – The Prairie Fire trailed by double-figures at halftime and couldn’t recover in a 96-70 Midwest Conference loss on Saturday at St. Norbert College.

The Green Knights (11-3, 9-0 MWC) shot 50 percent in the first half while holding Knox (2-12, 2-7 MWC) to 24 percent to take a 45-30 lead at the end of the first half.

The Knights extended the advantage to 73-49 at the 9:54 mark of the second half and were never threatened.

The Prairie Fire shot 22-of-85 (26 percent) in the game, including 6-of-28 from 3-point range.  St. Norbert was 39-of-77 (51 percent) and held a 63-48 rebounding edge.

Junior Kristin McDonald (Chicago, IL, Regina Dominican) and senior Krystyna Williams (Evanston, IL, Evanston Township) scored 12 points each to lead the Prairie Fire.  McDonald also had a team-high eight rebounds.  First-year Jodi Marver (Northbrook, IL, Glenbrook North) also scored in double-figures with 10 points.

St. Norbert’s Krista Pelky led all scorers with 23 points.

Knox returns home for games on Friday and Saturday against Lawrence University and Beloit College.
