Lawrence Defeats Volleyball Team

Appleton, WI – The Prairie Fire played three close sets in a 3-0 Midwest Conference loss on Friday at Lawrence University.

The Vikings (8-13, 2-4 MWC) have won two straight matches following a 1-9 stretch, including eight consecutive losses between September 15 and October 9.

Lawrence got past the Prairie Fire (2-25, 0-6 MWC) 25-21 in the first set, 25-22 in set two, and ended the match with a 25-18 victory in the third set.

Junior Kaylie Prince (Westminster, CO, Standley Lake) had a match-high 12 kills for Knox.  Junior Amber Eisha (South Wilmington, IL, Gardner-South Wilmington) added seven kills, 12 digs, and one block while senior Kristin McDonald (Chicago, IL, Regina Dominican) had seven kills and eight digs.  First-year setter Casey Stachelski (Joliet, IL, Plainfield) contributed 27 assists.

The Prairie Fire plays on Saturday at St. Norbert College.  The Green Knights (20-7) are undefeated in six conference matches and have won eight straight after beating Monmouth College in three sets on Friday. 

Cornell College (15-10, 7-0 MWC) leads St. Norbert by one game in the Midwest Conference standings.
