Galesburg, IL – The Prairie Fire couldn’t match the scoring punch of Carroll University in a 6-0 loss in the Homecoming match on Saturday at Jorge Prats Field.
The Pioneers (10-4-1, 6-2 MWC) have won five of their last six matches, including four in a row to stay in position for a berth in the Midwest Conference Tournament. The four straight wins have all been shutouts.
Carroll scored the first two goals of the match within 7:00, and added a third at 16:15 to lead 3-0 at the intermission. The Pioneers scored three times in the final 45:00 – at 47:15, 50:18, and 65:10.
Eliane Sauve scored Carroll’s first two goals and finished with three in the match.
The Pioneers outshot the Prairie Fire (3-12, 0-8 MWC) 30-3 overall and 14-1 on goal.
Junior Rachael Koene (Golden Valley, MN, Benilde-St. Margaret's) had six saves in goal for Knox.
The Prairie Fire tries to get back on track on Sunday at home against Beloit College. The match begins at 11:00 a.m.
