GRINNELL, Iowa — The Midwest Conference revealed its all-conference teams in women's soccer today with Knox College midfielder Isabella Shubert being selected for the second team.
A senior from La Mesa, California, Shubert was the glue for the team in the middle of the field, starting all 17 games and playing all but 66 minutes throughout the season. The tri-captain made the action go on offense, assisting on two goals — one in a victory over Eureka and the other in the first home night game in program history against rival Monmouth. She was also vital to the defensive efforts that helped the team yield 10 fewer goals than a year ago while recording seven shutouts. For her career, Shubert scored two goals and assisted on three others while starting 61 of the 65 games.
The league also announced the sport's major awards with undefeated conference champion Lake Forest College laying claim to three of the four awards — Offensive Player of the Year (senior Izzy DeStefano), Newcomer of the Year (first-year Maddie Vasquez) and Coaching Staff of the Year (head coach T.R. Bell). The Defensive Player of the Year was senior defender Avery Parks of Monmouth College.
Shubert is the first Knox women's soccer player to earn all-conference honors since the 2021 squad had five players make the two teams (three on the first team, two on the second).
