Galesburg, IL – The Prairie Fire ended the 2012 season with a 5-0 loss against St. Norbert College on Saturday at Jorge Prats Field.
The Green Knights (11-3-3, 6-1-2 MWC) led 2-0 at the intermission after outshooting Knox 22-0. St. Norbert scored its first goal at the 16:23 mark and followed with the second goal of the half at 20:37.
The Knights made it 3-0 against the Prairie Fire (3-14, 0-10 MWC) at 46:36 on the second straight goal by Nicole Beine.
The final two scores occurred at 60:50 and 65:18, the latter the second goal of the afternoon by Kellan Zimmer.
St. Norbert finished with 37 total shots to two for Knox. The Knights fired 20 shots on goal. Junior goalie Rachael Koene (Golden Valley, MN, Benilde-St. Margaret's) tied her career-high with 15 saves for the Prairie Fire.
The Green Knights suffered their only Midwest Conference loss – 1-0 at home against Carroll University -- on October 14. St. Norbert is 3-0-1 since then and closes out the regular season on Sunday at Lawrence University with an eye on qualifying for the Midwest Conference Tournament.
