Galesburg, IL – A Prairie Fire football player is the recipient of a weekly award for his accuracy against his team’s biggest rival.

Junior kicker Phil Tallman (Park Ridge, IL, Maine South) made all five of his extra point attempts and four of his kickoffs resulted in touchbacks in the season finale on November 10 at Monmouth College, the 124th Bronze Turkey Game.  Tallman’s excellent day kicking the football has earned him the last Prairie Fire Performer of the Week Award of the fall season.

The game against the Fighting Scots marked the third time this season that Tallman was 5-for-5 kicking extra points, which ties for the seventh-most in a game of all-time.  Twice this season he made 7-of-8 extra point attempts, which is tied for #2 all-time.

The school record for extra point kicks made in a game is nine (9-of-11) by Lane Bridgford in 1919 against Lake Forest College.

Tallman set two new school kicking records during the 2012 season.  His 36 extra points made and 41 attempted in a season established new all-time marks.  The previous records were 30 extra points made and 34 attempted by Adam Jordan in 2002.
