Four Prairie Fire Named to Academic All-District Football Team

The College Sports Communicators recognized four Knox players for their academic and athletic prowess

OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — Four Knox College football players earned prestigious spots on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for NCAA Division III, as announced Tuesday afternoon. Aiden Frail, Cole Gino, Reese Miller, and Julian Sanderson were recognized, with Frail, Sanderson, and Gino each receiving the honor for the second consecutive season.

Frail, a junior running back from Elmwood, Illinois, played in nine games with 11 carries for 23 yards, four catches for 28 yards, and one tackle. 

Gino, a senior running back from Shaftsbury, Vermont, is a double major in anthropology and sociology and played in eight games. Gino had 11 carries for 40 yards this season, adding four receptions for 31 yards. Gino is a three-time Academic All-Midwest Conference honoree.

A junior linebacker from Taylorsville, Utah, Sanderson played in nine games, registering 34 tackles. The business and management major added a sack and three tackles for loss this season. His biggest performance was a 10-tackle game vs. Cornell. Sanderson is also a two-time All-Midwest Conference Academic honoree.

Miller, a senior quarterback from San Francisco, California, was named Academic All-District for the first time. The political science and public policy double major went 44-112 passing this year, throwing for a pair of touchdowns. Miller also ran the ball 102 times for three touchdowns and 142 yards. Miller is a three-time All-Midwest Conference Academic honoree.

The all-district teams honor the nation's top student-athletes for excellence on the field and in the classroom. Eight of nine Midwest Conference schools were represented.

Academic All-District® honorees are first considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Those student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists, indicated with an asterisk, advance to the national ballot, where CSC members vote to determine the First-, Second-, and Third-Team Academic All-America® honorees. Award recipients will be announced on January 27.
