Dubuque, IA – The Prairie Fire split with the competition on February 25 at the Graber Sports Center.

Knox was unable to hand Ashford University its first defeat of the season as the Saints prevailed 7-2.

Ashford (5-0) won all three doubles matches.  The Prairie Fire’s #1 flight of senior Erik Hane (Littleton, CO, Mullen) and junior Shaun Mulani (Bourbonnais, IL, Bradley-Bourbannais) lost 8-4 in doubles play.  The Saints also posted an 8-4 victory in #2 doubles and an 8-1 win in #3 doubles.

Knox (3-3) fared better in singles play, winning the #1 and #6 matches. 

Hane beat Carlos Pico 4-6, 6-4, 10-1 in the #1 flight and sophomore Max Gaytas (Plymouth, WI, Plymouth) downed Kyle Deckard 6-0, 6-1 in the #6 match-up.

The Prairie Fire finished the day 1-1 after beating Loras College 8-1.

Knox plays its first home match of the season on March 3 against St. Norbert College.
