Galesburg, IL – The Prairie Fire received big time performances from two players that combined for five goals and four assists in a 7-1 non-conference win on Wednesday against Eureka College.

First-year Charlie Harned (Webster Groves, MO, Clayton), for the second time in a week, scored four goals -- the first time that's happened in recent memory -- while sophomore Jacob Polay (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg) added one goal and assisted on three of the scores by Harned as the Prairie Fire (5-3-1) won their third straight match.

The Prairie Fire (5-3-1) has five victories on the season and three wins in consecutive matches for the first time since 2008.

Harned scored the first goal 1:40 into the match to give Knox a 1-0 lead.  Polay followed with a score at 10:06 and Harned found the back of the net for a 3-0 lead at 11:28.

Eureka (1-8) got on the board at 27:28 to cut the deficit to 3-1, which was the score at the intermission.

Harned added his third goal and ninth of the season at 53:04.  First-year Charles Edemba (Abia, Nigeria, Santana Rhetoric Institute) made it a 5-1 Prairie Fire lead on an unassisted goal, his second of 2012.

First-year Abdulsalam Oganla (Lagos, Nigeria, The International Academy) scored his first goal of the season at 77:26 and Harned finished the scoring for Knox with his fourth goal at the 84:17 mark of the match.

The Prairie Fire outshot the Red Devils 24-12 and held a 15-4 shots on goal advantage.

First-year Sean McGovern (Chicago, IL, Niles Notre Dame) had three saves and earned the win in goal for Knox.

The Prairie Fire resumes Midwest Conference play on September 29 at Grinnell College. 

Grinnell (3-5-1, 1-2-0) has won two of three matches going into the contest against Knox which is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
