Prairie Fire begins MWC play at Grinnell on September 29

Eureka, IL – The Prairie Fire earned a non-conference win on Wednesday at Eureka College.

Knox posted a 3-1 victory: 25-18, 25-15, 16-25, 29-27.  The Prairie Fire (2-14) ended a string of six straight defeats with the win.

Junior Amber Eisha (South Wilmington, IL, Gardner-South Wilmington) continued her strong play by tying for match-high honors with 10 kills.  She also had four of Knox’s six aces and led the squad with three blocks and six digs.

Other major contributors included junior Kaylie Prince (Westminster, CO, Standley Lake) and first-year Casey Stachelski (Joliet, IL, Plainfield).

Prince had six kills, one ace, and one block.  Stachelski chipped in with a match-high 21 assists, two blocks, and three digs.

The Prairie Fire tries to build on the win against the Red Devils (2-14) with a pair of matches on September 29 at Grinnell College.  

Knox opens Midwest Conference play against the host Pioneers (2-15, 0-1 MWC), who have lost 10 straight -- including all four matches at home so far this season, at 11:00 a.m.  Grinnell, which is wrapping up a stretch of six straight matches at home, began the MWC portion of its schedule with a 3-0 loss at Darby Gym against Monmouth College on September 25.

The Prairie Fire and the Pioneers will also play non-conference contests against Simpson College on Saturday at Grinnell.  Knox and Simpson (3-12) play at 1:00 while the Storm and the Pioneers meet at 3:00.
