St. Norbert Slips Past Men's Soccer Team

De Pere, WI – St. Norbert College scored a goal in the eighth minute of overtime to defeat the Prairie Fire 2-1 in Midwest Conference play on Sunday.

Sophomore Nathaniel Logie (Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Queens Royal College) gave Knox an early 1-0 lead when he scored on a header off of a corner kick by senior Maxwell Gatyas (Plymouth, WI, Plymouth Comprehensive) 1:15 into the match.  The goal was Logie's 15th of the season.

The Prairie Fire (11-3, 4-2 MWC) maintained the lead until the Green Knights scored on a penalty kick in the 71st minute to force a 1-1 tie, and ultimately, overtime.

St. Norbert (5-6-2, 4-1 MWC) ended the match with the tiebreaking goal at the 98:39 mark.

The Green Knights got off 16 shots while Knox took 13, including five by Logie.  Junior Sean Dockrell (Dublin, Ireland, San Bernadino CC) had six saves in goal for the Prairie Fire.

Despite the setback, Knox remains tied with St. Norbert and Carroll University (8-4-1, 4-1 MWC) for the second-most conference points (12) in the standings.

The Prairie Fire host first-place Lake Forest College (8-5, 5-0 MWC) in the Homecoming match on October 19 at 3:30 p.m.  The Knox seniors will also be recognized before their final regular season home contest at Jorge Prats Field.
