Eagles post three shutouts in singles play

Orlando, FL – The Prairie Fire lost its second match in Florida, falling 9-0 against the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Wednesday.

Knox (4-10) had a tough time with the Eagles, scoring four match points in singles play.  La Crosse (14-5) won for the 10th time in the last 11 matches.  The only defeat was a 5-4 setback against defending Midwest Conference champion Grinnell College on Tuesday.

The Prairie Fire fared better in terms of scoring in two of the doubles matches.  Sophomores Walter Palmer (Wilmette, IL, New Trier) and Jonathan Ng (Hong Kong, China, Hong Kong International School), playing in the #1 flight for the first time this season, lost 8-4.  Senior David Ham (Lakewood, WA, Shadow Ridge) and first-year Dustin Loch (Glen Ellyn, IL, Glenbard West) dropped an 8-5 decision in their #2 doubles match.

Knox concludes its trip to Florida with a match against Calvin College on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. EST at Oak Street Park.
