Decorah, IA – The Prairie Fire lost both of their first round matches at the Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM) Volleyball Invitational hosted by Luther College on Friday.
Macalester College was the first opponent in the tournament for Knox. The Scots (7-5) defeated the Prairie Fire 3-0. Macalester won the first two sets 25-15 and 25-17 before completing the match sweep with a 25-7 triumph in the third set.
Senior
Kaylie Prince (Westminster, CO, Standley Lake) had six kills and five digs for Knox. First-year
Lauren Metcalf (Corona, CA, Centennial) added five kills and sophomore
Casey Stachelski (Joliet, IL, Plainfield Central) tallied 11 assists.
The Prairie Fire squared off next against Carleton College. The Knights, coming off of a 3-0 loss against Midwest Conference member Cornell College, prevailed 3-0. Carleton (7-3) posted set victories of 25-13, 25-17, 25-16.
Prince had a team-high six kills and also contributed nine digs. Metcalf finished with five kills and six digs while first-year
Madison Pierro (La Jolla, CA, Tri City Christian School) led with 16 digs and Stachelski had 13 assists.
Cornell and Coe College both won their two first round matches of the tournament. Macalester and Carleton split their two contests while St. Olaf and Knox (1-9) will try to rebound on Saturday.
The Prairie Fire meets host Luther College (4-4) at 10:00 a.m. and finishes against undefeated Colorado College (8-0) at 12:00 p.m.
