Decorah, IA – The Prairie Fire lost matches against Luther College and Colorado College in their last two matches at the ACM Invitational on Saturday.
Knox began the day against host Luther. The Norse (5-4) claimed a close first set 25-19 before going on to win the next two sets 25-11 and 25-15 and take the match 3-0.
Senior
Amber Eisha (South Wilmington, IL, Gardner-South Wilmington) had eight kills, seven digs, and a solo block for the Prairie Fire. First-year
Lauren Metcalf (Corona, CA, Centennial) added five kills and six digs, sophomore
Casey Stachelski (Joliet, IL, Plainfield Central) led with 20 assists, and first-year
Madison Pierro (La Jolla, CA, Tri City Christian School) had eight digs.
Knox faced unbeaten Colorado College in the team's final contest of the tournament.
Coming into the tournament, opponents had won just two sets against the Tigers. Colorado opened ACM Invitational play with a 3-0 victory against St. Olaf in their first match of the day on Saturday.
The Tigers maintained their unblemished record with a 3-0 triumph over the Prairie Fire. Colorado College (10-0) began the match by taking the first set 25-8 before closing it out 25-12 and 25-13.
The leaders for Knox (1-11) were senior
Kaylie Prince (Westminster, CO, Standley Lake) with seven kills, nine digs and one block, Stachelski with 13 assists, and Pierro with 10 digs.
Prince was recognized by being named to the 12-member
ACM Invitational All-Tournament Team.
