GALESBURG, Illinois – Carroll University built a four goal lead in the first half and defeated the Prairie Fire 6-0 in Midwest Conference play on Saturday at Jorge Prats Field.
The Pioneers (5-8-1, 4-2-1 MWC) took a 1-0 lead on Knox just 1:20 into the match. A penalty kick at the 6:40 mark doubled Carroll's advantage, followed by goals in the 10th and 42nd minutes.
The Pioneers rounded out the scoring with goals in the 50th and 54th minutes. Carroll finished with a 20-1 edge in total shots.
Sophomore
Theresa Birzer (Fort Dodge, IA, Fort Dodge) stopped seven shots in goal for Knox.
The Prairie Fire (3-10, 0-6 MWC) will try again for a Midwest Conference victory at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at home against Beloit College.
The Buccaneers (3-11-1, 0-7 MWC) suffered their ninth straight loss, 4-0 at Illinois College on Saturday.
