Box Score

APPLETEON, Wisconsin – The Prairie Fire fared well for the most part against Lawrence's attack, but one player for the Vikings proved especially difficult to slow down in Knox's 2-0 Midwest Conference loss on the road on Sunday.

One of Lawrence's 13 shots in the first half got past Prairie Fire sophomore goal keeper Theresa Birzer (Fort Dodge, IA, Fort Dodge).  Keli Muchowski scored nearly 36 minutes into the contest to put the Vikings on top 1-0.

The Prairie Fire (3-8, 0-4 MWC) were unable to squeeze in a goal to tie the match before Muchowski struck again with her sixth goal of the season at the 76:47 mark to give Lawrence a 2-0 lead.

Knox, which managed only one shot in the opening half, got an attack going in the second stanza and fired off six shots, including five that were on the mark.  Lawrence goalie Dani Glass, who ranks second in the Midwest Conference in saves, snagged all six shots by the Prairie Fire in her direction and recorded her third shutout of the season.

First-year Kayla Brown (Sacramento, CA, Wilton Christian), Knox's leading scorer, led the charge against the Vikings with three shots – two of them on goal.  First-year Shea Pierce (Joliet, IL, Joliet West) fired two shots on goal that Glass saved.

Lawrence took 20 shots, 12 of them on goal in the match.  Birzer finished with 10 saves.

The Prairie Fire will try to end a two-game slide at Cornell College on Saturday, October 11 at 3:30 p.m.  The Rams (6-5-1, 2-3 MWC) have lost three straight conference matches, all on the road, against Grinnell College, Carroll University, and Lake Forest College.  Those three teams have a combined 23 wins with 11 coming in league play.
