DE PERE, Wisconsin – The Prairie Fire, looking to get in the win column in the Midwest Conference standings during a trip to Wisconsin, lost to St. Norbert College in three sets on Saturday.
Knox hoped to bounce back at St. Norbert after falling 3-0 (14-25, 9-25, 19-25) at Lawrence University on Friday night. Instead, the Prairie Fire were defeated 14-25, 12-25, 19-25 by the Green Knights.
The Prairie Fire (2-20, 0-3 MWC) finished with 27 kills and 18 errors while St. Norbert tallied 49 kills and eight errors in the match.
First-year
Kyleigh Guthals (Clovis, NM, Clovis) led Knox with eight kills. Fellow first-year hitter
Rose Griffin (Maryland Heights, MO, Rosati-Kain) had seven kills followed by senior
Katie White (Peoria, IL, Notre Dame) and junior
Jamie Blue (Urbana, IL, University) with four kills each. Junior setter
Casey Stachelski (Joliet, IL, Plainfield Central) paced the Prairie Fire with 22 assists and sophomore
Holly Bieber (Chicago, IL, Walter Payton College Prep) had a team-best 10 digs. Griffin also contributed three service aces and a block while White had a solo block as well.
Breanne Brocker of St. Norbert (8-12, 2-0 MWC) led all players with 13 kills.
Knox plays at home twice during Homecoming Week. The Prairie Fire welcome Beloit College (1-15, 0-3 MWC) on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Lake Forest College (9-10, 2-0 MWC) on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
