EUREKA, Illinois – The Prairie Fire defeated Eureka College in straight sets on the road Tuesday evening for their first win of the year.

Knox downed the Red Devils 25-13, 25-22, 25-19 to earn a 3-0 non-conference victory.  The Prairie Fire (1-4) have won the last seven matches against Eureka dating back to the 2008 season.  The Red Devils fell to 0-3 on the season.

First-year Rose Griffin (Maryland Heights, MO, Rosati-Kain) led the Knox attack with 11 kills and assisted on three of the team's seven blocks.  Senior Katie White (Peoria, IL, Notre Dame) added eight kills with a sizzling .667 hitting percentage to go along with two blocks.  First-year Kyleigh Guthals (Clovis, NM, Clovis) contributed six kills, 10 digs, and three aces while junior Casey Stachelski (Joliet, IL, Plainfield Central) led all players with 24 assists and chipped in with 10 digs.

The Prairie Fire return to tournament play Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6 at the North Park University Clash in Chicago.  Knox opens up against host North Park on Friday at 2:00 p.m. before concluding the first day of the tournament against Marian University at 4:00 p.m.  Saturday's schedule finds the Prairie Fire squaring off against North Central College at 12:00 p.m. and Central College (IA) at 2:00 p.m.
