DE PERE, Wisconsin – Midwest Conference leader St. Norbert College raced out to a big lead early and went on to defeat the Prairie Fire 112-68 in league play on Saturday.

The Green Knights scored 12 straight points to open the game.  First-year Naja Woods (Minneapolis, MN, Southwest) got Knox on the board with a layup at the 15:15 mark.  St. Norbert (12-2, 9-0 MWC) extended the advantage to 32-7 midway through the first half and led 62-26 at the break.

The Knights, who ran their winning streak to five overall and improved to 7-0 at home this season, shot 62.5 percent in the first half and held the Prairie Fire to eight field goals and 20 percent shooting.

Knox (6-8, 4-5 MWC) played better in the second half – scoring 42 points, hitting seven 3-pointers, and forcing 13 turnovers by St. Norbert.  But the Prairie Fire couldn't chop the deficit down enough to pose a threat.

The Green Knights shot 60 percent (45-of-75) overall and sank 22-of-27 free throws. The Prairie Fire finished at 27 percent (22-of-81) shooting and 15-of-23 from the foul line.

Senior Jessica Howard (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg) led Knox in scoring with 12 points.  Junior Jamie Blue (Urbana, IL, University) was also in double-figures with 11.  First-year Erin Orr (Chicago, IL, Oak Park-River Forest) added a team-high 10 rebounds and senior Jodi Marver (Northbrook, IL, Glenbrook North) dished out four assists to go with eight points.

The Prairie Fire play next at Illinois College on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.  Knox can sweep the season series with a win after defeating the Lady Blues 100-89 at home on December 9.
