LAKE FOREST, Illinois — The Prairie Fire earned a spot in the Midwest Conference Tournament Championship for the first time in school history with a 2-1 win over host Lake Forest. The win over Lake Forest is also a first in program history.
Knox opened up the scoring with a goal in the 37th minute by
Jen Crary (Mission Viejo, CA, Capistrano Valley) assisted by
Yvette Rodriguez (Ontario, CA, Rancho Cucamonga). The Foresters were unable to answer the Prairie Fire as Knox played tremendous defense until the tying goal, which came in the 72nd minute. However, Knox was able to rebound less than three minutes later, when Crary scored her second goal of the day and what would end up being the winning goal.
Sierra Daniger (Colorado Springs, CO, Air Academy) had an incredible game in the net for the Prairie Fire, deflecting 10 Forester shots on the day.
Knox will play for their first conference championship on November 7 at noon against Carroll University in Lake Forest, Illinois.
