MACOMB, Illinois—The Prairie Fire fell to Division I opponent Western Illinois 90-48 on Saturday.
After only posting 19 points in the first half, Knox came out in the second to score 29 points. Knox pulled to within 5-6 early in the first half, but the Leathernecks went on a 19-2 run to pull away.
Caylab Herrera (Middletown, DE, Middletown) scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds. Robert Suntken (Naperville, IL, Naperville Central) added eight points, and Marko Protic (Niles, IL, Maine East) added five rebounds.
The Prairie Fire hit eight three-pointers and shot 30 percent overall.
Knox will look to start their regular season off the right way when they host Dominican University in their season opener on November 21 at 3:00 p.m.
