Women's Basketball Scores Record 128 Points

CHICAGO, Illinois—The Prairie Fire scored early and often in a 128-41 victory over Illinois Institute of Technology on Friday night.

Knox (5-2) was up 41-8 at the end of the first quarter and 69-25 at halftime. The Scarlet Hawks scored 33 of their 41 points in the second and third quarter before the Prairie Fire shut them out in the final quarter.

The win ends a two game slide for Knox. The 128 points is a new team record, breaking the previous total of 123 set on January 24, 2015 against Lawrence. The Prairie Fire made 18 three-pointers in the game, which ties the record set in the same game against Lawrence. The team also set the record for field goals in a game with 47, the previous total was 44 and was set on November 25, 2014.

Jamie Blue (Urbana, IL, University) led six Knox players in double figures with a game-high 21 points. She also grabbed six rebounds. Karlie Thorn (Henderson, NV, Coronado)scored 20 points, Naja Woods (Minneapolis, MN, Southwest) added 15, Elena Angueira-Bosch (Isabela, Puerto Rico, Spires Academy) put up 14, and the trio of Jasmine Binion (Davenport, IA, Assumption), Taliah Ellis (Chandler, AZ, Chandler), and Hailey Leinart (Gurnee, IL, Warren Township) each contributed 11. Woods and Ellis also tied for the team lead in rebounds with eight.

The Prairie Fire will return to the court on December 28 when they travel to Rockford University for a 7:00 p.m. game.
