PELLA, Iowa – The Prairie Fire dropped the first two matches away from home this season on Saturday.

Knox began the day with a 7-2 loss to Morningside College before falling 8-1 against host Central College.

Senior Karl Ruzgas (Downers Grove, IL, Downers Grove North) had a hand in both wins in the match against Morningside.  He defeated his #2 singles opponent 6-2, 6-1 and teamed up with senior Walter Palmer (Wilmette, IL, New Trier) to come from behind and take their #1 doubles match 9-8.

Ruzgas and Palmer improved their doubles record to 4-0 in duals with a victory against Central.  Trailing 0-3 to start the match, Ruzgas and Palmer fought back to it up and ultimately pull ahead for good in an 8-5 triumph.

The Prairie Fire (1-3) return to the state of Iowa to play Wartburg College (1:00 p.m.) and the University of Dubuque (5:00 p.m.) next Saturday in Dubuque.
