MONMOUTH, Illinois – A record-setting performance led the way for the Prairie Fire at the Fighting Scot Indoor Invite on Saturday at Monmouth College.

Senior Ezekiel Jere (Lusaka, Zambia, SOS Hermann-Gmeiner International) finished the 800 meters in 1:58.77 to break the nearly seven year-old school record time of 1:59.36 by Tim Rairdon on February 16, 2008.  Jere came within .21 seconds of Rairdon's time just three weeks ago at the Monmouth Midwest Invitational.

Four other Knox athletes set new all-time top 10 marks at the meet, which was not scored.

Sophomore Josh Tvrdy (Tucson, AZ, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy) ran the 3000 meter race in 9:05.49 for #9 on the all-time performance list.  Tvrdy improved significantly on his previous best 3K time of 9:19.01 and now has the third-fastest 3K time in the Midwest Conference.

First-years Rebecca Katz (Columbia, MO, David H. Hickman) and Frances Larsen (Anchorage, AK, West Anchorage) moved up in the 5000 meters.

Katz crossed the finish line in a time of 19:44.65 that ranks #4 on the all-time individual list for the event and topped her previous best by more than 27 seconds.  Larsen ran the 5K in 20:50.90 to ascend to #9 on the individual list.

Junior Brennan Mc Glauchlen (Inver Grove Heights, MN, Simley) had the longest weight throw of his career.  His heave of 43' 6" is #9 on the all-time individual list.

The Prairie Fire will compete against some different opponents next Saturday at the Olivet Nazarene University Qualifier.
