Final results

RIPON, Wisconsin – The Prairie Fire placed 10th overall in the men's and women's team standings at the Midwest Conference outdoor track and field championships hosted by Ripon College.

The shorthanded Knox teams did not have an entrant for 15 of the 40 total men's and women's events at the meet.  The women's squad finished with 2.5 points after competing in 13 events while the men's team collected 11 points in 12 events.4661

Senior Ezekiel Jere (Lusaka, Zambia, SOS Hermann-Gmeiner International) raced to a sixth place finish in the 800 meters.  His time of 1:58.66 is the fifth-fastest all-time by a Knox men's runner in the 800.  Jere also has the #2 and #9 ranked times on the all-time top 10 performance list.

Sophomore Josh Tvrdy (Tucson, AZ, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy) also scored for the Prairie Fire by placing seventh in the 3000 meter steeplechase (10:23.26).

In addition, junior Brennan McGlauchlen (Inver Grove Heights, MN, Simley) and first-year Frances Larsen (Anchorage, AK, West Anchorage) added their names to the Knox outdoor track and field all-time top 10 lists.

McGlauchlen's best heave of 134' 3" in the hammer throw ranks #5 on the all-time individual list.  Larsen logged a time of 13:00.76 in the 3000 meter steeplechase for #4 on the all-time performance list.  In her first season, Larsen posted four of the top 10 (#2, #4, #6, #9) fastest women's 3K steeple times in school history.

St. Norbert College swept the field by winning the men's and women's team titles.  The men's runner-up was Monmouth College and Carroll University finished second in the women's team standings.

RIPON, Wisconsin - A full day of events remains as the Prairie Fire try to move up in the team standings at the Midwest Conference outdoor track and field championships.

Both Knox teams have a lot of work to do on Saturday, the final day of the meet at Ripon College.  The men scored six points and finished Friday's first day of competition in eighth place, ahead of Lawrence University (3 points) and Beloit College (2 points).  The women tallied 2.5 points will look to move up from 10th place.  The eighth through 10th place slots are separated by less than five points.

Juniors Victor Schultz (Staunton, VA, Robert E. Lee) and Brennan McGlauchlen (Inver Grove Heights, MN, Simley) led the Prairie Fire men's squad.  Schultz placed sixth in the 10K race (34:55.67) while McGlauchlen posted a personal best shot put throw of 45' 9 3/4" that ranks #6 on the Knox all-time top 10 individual list for the shot.

First-year Rebecca Katz (Columbia, MO, David H. Hickman) finished seventh in the 10K (42:05.66) and senior ShirJia Bielefeld (Weston, WI, DC Everest) tied for eighth in the pole vault (7' 8 1/2") to account for the points scored by the Prairie Fire women's team.  In addition, sophomore Jessica Fritts (Scottsdale, AZ, Foothills Academy) set a new PR in the hammer throw.  Her best throw traveled 117' 3" for the #5 spot on the all-time top 10 individual list.
