ROCKFORD, Illinois – The Prairie Fire started the season with a bang with a 10-0 win over Rockford University on Tuesday.
First-year
Devan Griffin (Highlands Ranch, CO, Stem School) got things rolling early with the first of her three goals coming at the 3:35 mark.
First-year
Alex Robertson (San Clemente, CA, San Clemente) added two goals of her own, and sophomore
Kayla Brown (Roseville, CA, Wilton Christian) scored a goal and contributed three assists.
Knox received scoring -- including assists -- from 12 different players, 10 of whom are new to the program.

The Regents couldn't get anything going on offense and the Prairie Fire built a solid 5-0 lead by halftime.

Theresa Birzer (Fort Dodge, IA, Fort Dodge) shared duties in the net and combined for the shutout.

The Prairie Fire will try for a second straight win to start the season with a weekend homestand against Coe College on Friday and Blackburn College on Sunday. Â Both matches are scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
