ROCKFORD, Illinois – The Prairie Fire started the season with a bang with a 10-0 win over Rockford University on Tuesday.

Devan Griffin (Highlands Ranch, CO, Stem School) got things rolling early with the first of her three goals coming at the 3:35 mark.

Alex Robertson (San Clemente, CA, San Clemente) added two goals of her own, and sophomore
Kayla Brown (Roseville, CA, Wilton Christian) scored a goal and contributed three assists.
Knox received scoring -- including assists -- from 12 different players, 10 of whom are new to the program.
The Regents couldn't get anything going on offense and the Prairie Fire built a solid 5-0 lead by halftime.
Knox fired 22 shots on goal out of a total 39 shots. First-year goalkeeper
Sierra Daniger (Colorado Springs, CO, Air Academy) and junior goalie
Theresa Birzer (Fort Dodge, IA, Fort Dodge) shared duties in the net and combined for the shutout.
The Prairie Fire will try for a second straight win to start the season with a weekend homestand against Coe College on Friday and Blackburn College on Sunday. Both matches are scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
