GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire suffered defeat against Lawrence despite holding a first half lead.
Knox (1-16, 0-12 MWC) jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first half and did not allow the Vikings a field goal until the 9:58 mark. Lawrence chipped away at the lead and briefly took the lead. The game looked destined to head into halftime tied at 27-all, but a long three from
Braden Adams (Mount Vernon, MO, Mount Vernon) at the buzzer gave the Prairie Fire a 30-27 lead. Lawrence took the lead for good about a quarter of the way through the second half. Knox was able to keep the game close for most of the second half, but eventually the Vikings pulled away.
Adams led the Prairie Fire in scoring with 17 points on 3-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc.
Caylab Herrera (Middletown, DE, Middletown) added nine points and
Marko Protic (Niles, IL, Maine East) finished with six points and seven rebounds.
Knox returns home on February 3 at 5:30 p.m. to take on Cornell.
