GALESBURG, Illinois— Two 36-point halves were not enough for the Prairie Fire as they fell to Cornell College 81-72 on Wednesday night.
Knox (1-17, 0-13 MWC) played a solid defensive first half allowing only 30 points to the Rams.
Braden Adams (Mount Vernon, MO, Mount Vernon) scored 12 points in the first half and a career-high 25 overall.
Caylab Herrera (Middletown, DE, Middletown) and
Marko Protic (Niles, IL, Maine East) each scored 7 points for the Fire while Herrera pulled down 10 boards and Protic grabbed nine.
Deandre Weathersby (Chicago, IL, Kenwood Academy) added 11 points and 3 assists in his attempt to direct the Fire offense. The Fire played a solid defensive game especially in the opening half, holding the Rams to 36 percent shooting.
The Fire will look to get their first win in the conference when they take on their next opponent, Lake Forest College on February 6.
