GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire volleyball team defeated Lake Forest 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to pick up their first conference win.
Knox (4-15, 1-1 MWC) trailed 22-18 in the first set, but finished on a 7-0 run to take the set. The Foresters returned the favor in the second set when they scored eight of the last nine points to win the set. The final two sets were close, but the Prairie Fire ended up pulling away in both of them to earn the victory.
Rose Griffin (Maryland Heights, MO, Rosati-Kain) was spectacular in the match with 21 kills and 5 service aces.
Rachael Powell (Indianapolis, IN, Lawrence Central) chipped in 38 assists and
Keiyah Triplett (Chicago, IL, Westinghouse) added 22 digs to lead the Prairie Fire.
Knox travels to Wisconsin next weekend to continue Midwest Conference play at St. Norbert and Lawrence.
