GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire women's soccer team scored a goal late to hold the top spot in the conference standings and earn a berth in the conference tournament.
Knox (15-0-1, 7-0-0 MWC) and Ripon played scoreless soccer for almost 83 minutes before
Kelsie Pos (Salt Lake City, UT, Skyline) broke the tie on a penalty kick. The Prairie Fire dominated in shots in the game, outshooting the Red Hawks 18-4. Ripon was ranked fourth in the North Region by the NSCAA going into the game, while the Prairie Fire were ranked eighth.
The Prairie Fire travel to Cornell on October 22 needing a win or a tie to secure the regular season MWC title.
