MOUNT VERNON, Iowa—The Prairie Fire women's soccer team claimed victory over Cornell 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

#25 Knox (16-0-1, 8-0-0 MWC) clinched the regular season conference title for the first time in program history and will host the Midwest Conference tournament on November 4 and 5. The impressive season continues with the Prairie Fire winning their ninth straight victory and 15th shutout. As of last week, Knox ranked first nationally in goals against average (.123) and in the top five nationally in win-loss-tie percentage (.969), save percentage (.943), shutout percentage (.875), and total goals (59).

The Prairie Fire and Rams played a scoreless first half, but Knox scored early in the second half when Kayla Brown (Roseville, CA, Wilton Christian) found the back of the net. Bryssa Montez (Oceanside, CA, Mission Vista) picked up the assist. The Prairie Fire held on for the 1-0 victory.

Knox will host St. Norbert on October 29 to close out the season and prepare for the conference tournament.
