GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's basketball team fell in their season opener to Greenville 130-106.
Knox (0-1) kept the game close through much of the first half, but the Panthers started pulling away and held a 68-46 lead by halftime. The Prairie Fire kept pace with Greenville in the second half, only getting outscored 62-60.
Galesburg native Eric Thompson led the Prairie Fire with 24 points and 11 rebounds, earning a double-double in his collegiate debut. Marko Protic chipped in 20 points and seven rebounds. Deandre Weathersby also added 11 points.
Knox will look to rebound when they travel to Dominican on November 22.
