GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire took control early in an 88-62 win over Robert Morris-Peoria on Tuesday.
Knox (1-1) pulled away with a 17-7 second quarter to take a 41-27 lead into halftime. They expanded the lead in the third quarter outscoring the Eagles 26-12. A late run by RMU in the fourth quarter was too late to do any damage and the Prairie Fire came away with the victory.
Kyra Huffman (Sacramento, CA, St. Francis) had a game-high 18 points and added seven rebounds.
Karlie Thorn (Henderson, NV, Coronado) (15 points),
Taliah Ellis (Chandler, AZ, Chandler) (12 points), and
Hailey Leinart (Gurnee, IL, Warren Township) (10 points) also scored in the double digits for Knox.
Naja Woods (Minneapolis, MN, Southwest) racked up 13 assists in the game.
Knox will return home on November 26 for a rematch with Eureka.
