Box Score 2 GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire volleyball team lost to Iowa Wesleyan 1-3 in their home opener on Wednesday night.
Knox (0-6) fell behind midway through the first set and the Tigers took the set 25-20. The Prairie Fire put up quite the fight in the second set going toe to toe with Iowa Wesleyan before the Tigers went on a 6-0 run. Knox went on a run of their own, but fell 21-25 in set two. The Prairie Fire built a commanding 8-1 lead in set three and went on to win the set 25-10. The fourth set was close throughout, but Knox was chasing the Tigers the whole set and fell 21-25 again.
Keiyah Triplett (Chicago, IL, Westinghouse) led the Prairie Fire with 24 digs and
Emily Mosher (Glen Ellyn, IL, Glenbard West) finished with 23 assists.
Maddie Byrne (Houston, TX, Clear Springs) managed 12 kills to lead Knox.
Knox also fell to Eureka in four sets on Tuesday night. Triplett led the Prairie Fire with 33 digs,
Rose Griffin (Maryland Heights, MO, Rosati-Kain) picked up 12 kills, and
Rachael Powell (Indianapolis, IN, Lawrence Central) had 16 assists.
The Prairie Fire return to action at the Northland Tournament in Ashland, Wisconsin this weekend.
