BELOIT, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire men's basketball team fell to Beloit 73-71 in overtime on Friday night.
Knox (1-11, 1-6 MWC) and the Bucs played back and forth the entire game and were tied 32-32 at halftime. The Prairie Fire held an eight point advantage at one point in the second half, but Beloit fought back in the final minutes to earn a slight edge. A three-pointer by Deryk Ruple sent the game to overtime. Knox played from behind for much of the extra period, but managed to tie the game with 13 seconds left. The Bucs cashed in with a layup with the clock winding down to earn the victory.
Jonathan Damota (Miami Springs, FL, Miami Springs) scored a team-high 19 points on and grabbed eight rebounds for the Prairie Fire. Ruple scored 15 points in his debut and
Deandre Weathersby (Chicago, IL, Kenwood Academy) added 10 points.
Knox returns to action on January 14 at Lake Forest.
