Women's Basketball Perfect on Road Trip

LAKE FOREST, Illinois—Entering the 4th quarter of today's matchup, the Knox women's basketball team found themselves clinging to a one-point lead. However a 22 point 4th period, with 17 coming from Jarrelyn McCall and Kyra Huffman, sealed the game with a 63-56 victory. Knox (8-5, 5-3 MWC) topped Lake Forest College (3-10, 2-6 MWC) on their home court to earn their fifth win in their last six games.

McCall got the Fire off to a hot start in the first quarter scoring seven points and recording two steals to go along with an assist. In the second quarter, Hailey Leinart came off the bench to score six points of her own. The second half, and in turn the game, was won by solid defense and a strong fourth quarter. McCall finished with 17 points, and Huffman and Leinart each aaded 12. Huffman also grabbed 10 rebounds in the game. Although Knox lost the rebounds and assists battles, they dominated in points off turnovers and points in the paint.

The Prairie Fire will look to continue their winning ways when they take on Illinois College on January 18th at Memorial Gymnasium.
