GALESBURG, Illinois— The Prairie Fire Women's basketball team has now won six of their last seven games after their win over Illinois College. Knox (9-5, 6-3 MWC) downed the Lady Blues (9-5, 6-3 MWC) on Wednesday night with a final score of 72-60.
Knox entered halftime with a 12-point lead but a 24-point 3rd quarter from IC brought on an entertaining 4th quarter. Knox was able to counter with a 22-point 4th quarter to seal the game. Three Fire players scored in double digits on the night;
Kyra Huffman (Sacramento, CA, St. Francis) led the way with 16 points and 10 rebounds to give herself a double-double.
Karlie Thorn (Henderson, NV, Coronado) added 13 and
Hailey Leinart (Gurnee, IL, Warren Township) scored 12 of her own.
Jarrelyn McCall (Lonoke, AR, Lonoke) led the Fire on the boards with 11 rebounds and
Naja Woods (Minneapolis, MN, Southwest) swiped 4 steals. Knox's defense came through in a big way by holding IC to under 39% shooting. The Fire also scored 29 points off turnovers, an impressive mark.
Knox will look to continue their winning ways when they take on St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin on January 21.
