MONMOUTH, Illinois—The Prairie Fire women's basketball team completed a season sweep of Monmouth for the first time since the 1996-97 season with a 74-70 victory on Wednesday night.
Knox (10-6, 7-4 MWC) led 19-16 after the first quarter, but trailed 36-32 at halftime. The Fighting Scots led for the majority of the third quarter, but the Fire kept the game close. Knox took the lead early in the fourth quarter and held on for the win.
Morgan Potter (Huntington Beach, CA, Huntington Beach) and
Taliah Ellis (Chandler, AZ, Chandler) shared high scoring honors with 17 points apiece.
Naja Woods (Minneapolis, MN, Southwest) and
Hailey Leinart (Gurnee, IL, Warren Township) each added 10 as well.
Kyra Huffman (Sacramento, CA, St. Francis) grabbed a team-high 10 boards to go along with six points.
The Prairie Fire remain in the fourth spot in conference with their victory and will look to jump in the standings when they host Lake Forest on January 28.
