GALESBURG, Illinois—Basketball homecoming brought a win for the Prairie Fire women's basketball team. The win brought them into sole possession of 4th place in the Midwest Conference standings. Knox (11-6, 8-4 MWC) topped Lake Forest College (5-12, 4-8 MWC by a final score of 66-49. The Fire used a powerful second half to run away with the season sweep, the first ever over the Foresters. Knox scored 43 points in the second half after only 23 in the first.
Three women scored in double digits in this game.
Karlie Thorn (Henderson, NV, Coronado) led the way with 16 points, and
Morgan Potter (Huntington Beach, CA, Huntington Beach) and
Jarrelyn McCall (Lonoke, AR, Lonoke) added 15 each. Potter also grabbed 7 rebounds and
Kyra Huffman (Sacramento, CA, St. Francis) added 9 points and 7 rebounds. As a team, Knox dominated in second chance points with 21 and led in points off turnovers with 27.
Knox will look to continue their winning ways when they travel to Illinois College on January 31. The Fire will look to stretch their lead in the Midwest Conference standings.
