JACKSONVILLE, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's basketball team fell to Illinois College on the road Tuesday night.
Knox (1-17, 1-12 MWC) was neck and neck with the Blueboys for just over 30 minutes, but Illinois College hit a three-pointer with 9:52 remaining in the game to take the lead and never gave it up. The Prairie Fire were able to hang around until the final minute when the Blueboys hit 9-of-10 free throws to seal the game.
Marko Protic (Niles, IL, Maine East) led all scorers with 20 points and added eight rebounds. Marcellis Davis (Chicago, IL, Curie) poured in 13 points and Jonathan Damota (Miami Springs, FL, Miami Springs) managed 12 of his own.
Knox will travel to Cornell on February 4 to continue their extended road series.
