GREENVILLE, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's basketball team fell to Greenville 148-120 in their season debut.
Knox (0-1) only trailed the Panthers by two points at halftime, but Greenville hit two quick treys to open the second half to expand their lead. The Prairie Fire fought back to a two-point deficit and hung around until the 15:20 mark when the Panthers pulled away to a double-digit lead. Greenville doubled their lead over the next five minutes and cruised to victory.
First-year Blake Godbold began his career with a game-high 37 points and 16 rebounds to earn a double-double. Fellow rookie Aaron Crose added 18 points while Deryk Ruple, Jonathan Damota, and Jacob Kampf each tallied 10 points apiece. Damota also earned a double-double, and near triple-double, by hauling in 11 boards and dishing out seven assists. DJ Lewis added nine points and eight assists.
Knox will look for their first win of the young season as they host Westminster on November 25.
