GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire women's basketball team earned their third straight win to open the season by downing Fontbonne 66-55 on Sunday afternoon.
Knox (3-0) never trailed against the Griffins earning a 34-22 lead by halftime. During the second half the Prairie Fire kept Fontbonne from gaining any ground to hold on for the win. Knox outrebounded the Griffins 45-35 and shot 48.1% from the floor to Fontbonne's 31.0%. The Prairie Fire were very consistent shooting 48.15% in the first half and 48.0% in the second half.
Kyra Huffman earned her second straight double-double with an even 14 points and 14 rebounds. Karlie Thorn added 13 points and six assists. Morgan Potter tallied 12 points and seven rebounds while Hailey Leinart put in 11 points.
Knox will travel to St. Norbert on December 1 for their first conference game of the season.
