GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's basketball team fell 124-81 in a conference rematch with Grinnell on Tuesday night.
Knox (2-20, 2-15 MWC) started out hot, taking an early 12-5 lead. The Pioneers stormed back to take a 17-16 lead at the 13:46 mark in the first half, but Knox jumped back out front 22-17 at the 11:54 mark. The middle of the first half saw both teams battle back and forth, but Grinnell took control over the final seven minutes and held a 56-47 lead by halftime. The Pioneers held Knox to 34 points in the second half while expanding their lead en route to victory.
Jonathan Damota (Miami Springs, FL, Miami Springs) scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed eight boards. Marko Protic (Niles, IL, Maine East) added 13 points and eight rebounds. George Mosialos (Larissa, Greece, Mpakogiannis) dished out six assists and Jeremiah Horton (Oak Park, IL, Oak Park River Forest) poured in eight points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Knox will conclude their season on February 18 when they host Ripon for senior day.
