GALESBURG, Illinois— Valentine's Day brought a heartbreaking game for the Prairie Fire Women's Basketball team. A hard fought game left the Fire just short of a shot at the Midwest Conference tournament. Knox (13-9 10-7 MWC) has had one of their best years in program history, but lost to Grinnell (13-9, 11-6 MWC) 59-53.
Morgan Potter (Huntington Beach, CA, Huntington Beach) had a huge game for the Fire, netting 14 points, grabbing seven rebounds, dishing out two assists and swatting three shots.
Karlie Thorn (Henderson, NV, Coronado) also poured in 11 points and grabbed four boards and
Hailey Leinart (Gurnee, IL, Warren Township) added 10 points and six rebounds.
Naja Woods (Minneapolis, MN, Southwest) played a solid game at the point for the Fire filling up the stat sheet with eight points, five rebounds, and added four assists.
Knox still has a chance to finish with more conference wins than the 1996-97 team. They will look for their 11th conference win on February 18 when they take on Ripon College at home.
