GRINNELL, Iowa—A slow start to the game came back to hurt the Prairie Fire women's basketball team as they fell in a hard fought matchup at Grinnell College. Knox (12-8, 9-6 MWC) scored only 4 points in the first quarter but came back in the second quarter to score 21. Their efforts were not enough though as they fell to Grinnell (12-8, 10-5 MWC) by a final score of 57-53. The loss sent Knox down to fifth in the Midwest Conference standings with just a few games to go.
Morgan Potter (Huntington Beach, CA, Huntington Beach) had a great game for the Fire scoring 19 points, dishing out two assists and pulling down four rebounds. Jarrelyn McCall added 11 points and three rebounds and Hailey Leinart added nine points and 5 boards.
Knox will have their final three games at home this season, the first of which will be against Beloit College on February 11.
