GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire women's soccer team continued their recent scoring frenzy in their matchup with Buena Vista University. Electric offense and rock solid defense brought a 5-0 victory for Knox.
The Fire took just over 20 minutes to put the ball in the back of the net, but then fired off 3 goals in just over 15 minutes. The first goal of the match came from Kayla Brown assisted by Alex Robertson. Brown wasted little time before scoring again five minutes later with an assist from Briana Quintana. Ten minutes later the fire scored again when Yvette Rodriguez put one past the keeper. Jessica Peterson scored the match-sealing goal with 15 minutes left in the second half and a late goal by Rosie Medina brought the final score to 5-0 Knox.
Courtney Dramm finished with two assists on the day, a final touch on the offensive dominance of the Prairie Fire; Knox outshot Buena Vista 25-2. The defense was the ultimate factor in this one as Buena Vista never put a shot on goal.
The Fire will look to carry their momentum into the conference opener at home against Lawrence University on September 23.
